Useful advice. Clear sources.

What this site is for

We help UK households plan for short interruptions to everyday services and compare a small number of relevant equipment options. Our starting point is the government’s Be Ready guidance. We are not a government website and the government does not endorse the products featured here.

How products are selected

We use published manufacturer information to identify models with clear specifications and practical differences. Each selection links to its source and explains a limitation. We have not hands-on tested these products, independently measured performance or verified every retailer’s stock. We do not publish invented review scores or claim a product is the best without testing evidence.

How affiliate links work

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon buttons are paid links and may generate commission at no extra cost to you. Some open an identified product listing; others open a clearly labelled search where the exact model and seller still need checking. We do not display manually maintained Amazon prices or copy customer star ratings.

Keeping advice useful

Product research was completed on 23 October 2026. Models, availability and guidance can change. Follow linked manufacturer instructions and the latest official advice, particularly for individual medical or support needs. Start with suitable items you already own and buy only what your household needs.
